Day Five Fall Break

Day 5 Fall Break - Friday
Our day in the sun

Finally our full day at the beach. I wanted to see a few sites here at Hilton Head, so we headed to the lighthouse and even took the hike up to the top of the tower.

What a fun start to our day.

Feeding of the alligators is prohibited, No swimming all survivors will be ticketed.

This was the sign by the lake! Yikes! We stopped by the nature preserve right next to the beach. The trees are so beautiful here.

I was on pins and needles with Corbin running all about looking like he was going to fall in. I'm yelling to him to stay back by us and Matt is just chuckling at my mothering instincts.

I love the Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

Here I am 5 1/2 months pregnant.

I begged Matt to get a luggage sack that we could put on top of the van for our trip, but he insisted that we could fit it all in the van. I really didn't think that it was going to be possible but somehow he made it work. Three small children and two adults with luggage for six days all crammed in our minivan. Wow

We decided to go back to Coligny beach it was so pretty and that was near our morning outings. Here is the fountain right out front.

It was a perfect sunny day, the beach was a buzz and life was dreamy

Aiden and I played in the sand making castles, Addie and Corbin took to the waves immediately while Matt watched over them. Aiden was very frightened of the waves when they would come rushing back in.

The kids didn't use the boogie boards much, they just liked swimming and jumping and chasing each other. Occasionally they would come and play in the sand but 98% of the time was in the water. I was worried at how they would react to the salt water but they were like little fish with no bother at all.

Now Corbin had a grand time exploring the beach and what it has to offer. Matt and he took a walk down the beach a bit and saw this lady with a net. She wasn't there to sun bathe or swim she came to net small fish and show the kids. It was very exciting. First she dug a little pool right at the edge of the water. She would then net the fish and place them in the pool for the kids to catch and play with. She gave Corbin three of them to play with. He came rushing to me saying something very excitedly really fast (I hadn't understood a word) and ran off with the bucket. He later returned with the fish to show Aiden and I this small wonder.

Aiden was very amazed at these little wiggly creatures. He was neither afraid nor overjoyed. Just curious.

Our day was so wonderful. All of us loved the beach. Even the non swimmer-Matthew.

Our plans were to leave the beach and drive to our halfway point the Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg.
We were five minutes down the road when I turn to snap these pics.

Corbin was on a high and was still so happy about our day. He talks about our vacation all the time.
